AuraBuilt — Privacy Policy

In short: Your training data — every workout, set, photo, measurement and gym location — is stored on your own device and is never uploaded to us. We run no servers and hold no accounts. The one exception is advertising: the free version of AuraBuilt shows banner ads supplied by Google AdMob, and Google receives device and advertising identifiers in order to serve them. Subscribers see no ads, and on a subscriber's device the advertising software is never started at all. We retain nothing, because we hold nothing: your data lives on your device for as long as you want it and is gone the moment you delete it or uninstall the app (section 11).

1. Who we are

AuraBuilt ("the app") is a workout-tracking application for Android and Wear OS. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Questions: info@tanctics.com.

2. What we collect

We collect nothing. AuraBuilt has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no backend servers. Nothing you enter — your workouts, weights, photos, measurements, notes or gym locations — is ever transmitted to us. We could not read your training data if we wanted to. Because we collect nothing, we also retain nothing — our data retention practices are set out in full in section 11.

Two third parties do receive data, and only in specific circumstances. Both are described in full below:

Google AdMob — only in the free version, to show ads (section 6).
Google Play — only if you subscribe, to process payment (section 7).

3. What the app stores on your device

All of the following is stored locally, in the app's private storage, and stays there:

Workout data — exercises, sets, reps, weights, RPE/RIR, notes, dates and durations.
Body measurements — bodyweight and any measurements you choose to record.
Progress photos — only if you add them.
Goals, routines, programs and schedules you create.
Gym locations — only if you turn on gym tagging (section 5).
Preferences — units, theme, rest timer length, available plates, reminder time.
Watch metrics — heart rate and active calories measured during a workout by a paired Wear OS watch, attributed to your logged sets.

4. Health and fitness permissions

Health Connect (phone)

If you choose to connect AuraBuilt to Health Connect, the app requests:

READ_WEIGHT — to import your latest bodyweight so strength-level calculations are accurate.
WRITE_EXERCISE — to save a finished workout as an exercise session.
WRITE_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED — to save calories measured during the workout.
WRITE_HEART_RATE — to save heart-rate samples measured during the workout.

This integration is entirely optional and off until you enable it in Settings. Data written to Health Connect is stored by Health Connect on your device under your control; AuraBuilt does not transmit it anywhere. You can revoke these permissions at any time in Health Connect or Android settings.

Body sensors and activity recognition (Wear OS)

The Wear OS companion requests body-sensor, heart-rate and activity-recognition permissions solely to measure heart rate and active calories while a workout is in progress, to show them on your wrist, and to attach them to the sets you log. These readings are sent only to your paired phone over Google's Wearable Data Layer and are never sent to us.

5. Location

AuraBuilt can tag a workout with the gym you trained at. This is off until you switch it on in Settings → Gym location.

It takes a single location reading when a workout starts, and never again during the session. There is no continuous tracking, and the app does not request background location access.
The reading is compared against gyms you have already named. If it matches one, the workout is labelled with that gym's name. If it doesn't, the app asks you what to call the place — or you can decline, and nothing is recorded.
Coordinates are stored only on your device and are never transmitted. They are deliberately excluded from shared workout images.
Precise location is requested because approximate location is accurate to within a kilometre or more, which cannot tell one gym from another.
Turning the feature off, or revoking the permission in Android settings, stops it immediately. Workouts already tagged keep their labels until you delete them.

6. Advertising (free version only)

The free version of AuraBuilt shows banner adverts supplied by Google AdMob. Ads appear on the Dashboard, Workouts and Progress screens. They never appear while a workout is in progress.

To serve ads, Google's advertising software collects information from your device. AuraBuilt does not choose, see or store any of it. Typically this includes:

None of your training data is used for advertising. Your workouts, weights, photos, measurements and gym locations are never shared with Google's advertising systems or with anyone else.

How Google uses this data is governed by Google's Privacy & Terms.

Your choices about ads

Consent — where the law requires it (including the EU, the UK and Switzerland), the app shows Google's consent form before any ad loads, and you choose whether ads are personalised. You can change your answer later in Settings → Privacy options.
Reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising across all apps.

7. Subscriptions

AuraBuilt offers an optional paid subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see, receive or store your name, card details, billing address or any other payment information. Google tells the app only whether a valid subscription exists.

Subscribing removes ads completely. This is not a matter of hiding them: on a subscriber's device the advertising software is never initialised, so no advertising identifier is read and no request is made to any ad network.

Managing, cancelling and refunding a subscription is done through Google Play. Google's handling of your purchase is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

8. Notifications and background activity

AuraBuilt uses foreground services to keep the rest timer and the interval/EMOM timer running accurately while your screen is off, and posts notifications for those timers and for an optional daily workout reminder. These features do not collect data.

9. Sharing

AuraBuilt never shares your data automatically. Data leaves the app only when you explicitly choose to send it, and you pick the destination:

Workout and routine images — shared through Android's share sheet, or handed directly to Instagram if you choose "Share to Story". The image contains what you chose to show; it never contains your location.
QR codes — sharing a workout or routine encodes it into a QR image on your device. Nothing is uploaded; the recipient's app reads it straight from the picture.
Exports — a full JSON backup or a CSV of your log, saved wherever you choose.

Once you have sent something to another app, it is handled under that app's privacy policy, not ours.

10. Backups

Android's built-in backup service may include the app's data in your device backup to your own Google account, depending on your device settings. That backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us. You can disable it in your Android backup settings.

11. How long we keep your data — data retention

We do not store or retain any of your data. AuraBuilt has no servers, no accounts and no cloud storage, so there is no copy of your information for us to keep, and no retention period on our side to describe. Nothing you enter reaches us in the first place.

Data on your device

Everything listed in section 3 — workouts, sets, body measurements, progress photos, routines, goals, schedules, gym locations, preferences and watch metrics — is kept in the app's private storage on your device for as long as you choose to keep it, and no longer. It is retained until one of the following happens, at which point it is deleted immediately and permanently:

You delete an individual workout, session, photo, measurement or gym.
You use Settings → Data → "Clear all data", which erases every workout, session and custom exercise.
You clear the app's storage in Android settings.
You uninstall the app, which removes all of its local data.

Because the data never leaves your device, a deletion is final: there is no backup of it held by us, and no archived or "soft-deleted" copy retained anywhere. The only exceptions are copies you created yourself — an exported JSON or CSV file, a shared image, or an Android device backup — which stay wherever you put them until you delete them.

Data held by third parties

Where a third party receives data, that party — not us — controls how long it keeps it:

12. Your control over your data

Export — Settings → Data → export a full JSON backup or a CSV of your log.
Delete — Settings → Data → "Clear all data" removes every workout, session and custom exercise from the device.
Uninstall — removing the app deletes all of its local data.
Revoke permissions — Health Connect, location and sensor permissions can be withdrawn at any time in Android settings without affecting the rest of the app.
Advertising — reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings, change your consent choice in Settings → Privacy options, or subscribe to remove ads entirely.

13. Children

AuraBuilt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. Ads are restricted to a "Teen" maximum content rating.

14. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date. The 22 August 2026 revision added section 11, which states our data retention practices explicitly; it describes what the app has always done and did not change how any data is handled. An earlier version described advertising, subscriptions and optional gym-location tagging, which did not exist in the first releases.

The app was previously called AuraFit and has been renamed to AuraBuilt. Only the name changed: what the app stores, what it does not collect, and everything else described above is unchanged. AuraBuilt is a separate installation from AuraFit rather than an update to it, so if you were using AuraFit, its data stays on your device with that app until you remove it.
